SYDNEY WILLIAM JAMES HEAD On Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, Sydney Head, aged 86 years, beloved husband of Eleanor (Pomrenke) and loving father of Marilyn (James) Thoroski, Bonnie (Jean) Labossiere and Nancy Head, also grandfather and great-grandfather of James W., Krista, Denny Thoroski, Alicia Labossiere, Shawn Head, Nicholas and Sidney Thoroski. Syd was predeceased by his parents, his brother Theodore and sister Noreen. He leaves behind his brother George and his brother-in-law, Howard Pomrenke and his wife, Alice. Syd was born on December 6, 1915 and lived in St. Vital all of his life. He worked for Swift Canadian and moved on to retire at 65 from the City of Winnipeg. Syds joys were his family and his love of working in his garage doing mechanical work and woodworking. Dad, we will all miss your "whistling". Syd resided at Central Park Lodge and then Vista Park Lodge for three years. The family would like to extend their thanks and deep gratitude to Victoria General Hospital, Dr. Pacin, nurses and staff for their care and attention during his illness. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16 at 1:00 p.m.at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapels on Thursday from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. or one hour prior to the service for viewing.
