ANDREW RICHARD LATHLIN February 23, 1943 - August 9, 2002 It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Andrew Richard Lathlin. Andrew was born at St. Anthonys Hospital in The Pas, MB. He attended a residential school in Norway House. He was a band member of the Opaskawyak Cree Nation. His trade of work was a glazer and cabinet maker. He moved his family to British Columbia for approximately 10 years before returning to Winnipeg in July 1998, where he had resided until his passing. Andrew was a loving, caring and understanding husband and father. His children were very precious to him. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and nieces and nephews, family and friends. Andrew will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Cileen; three sons, William Charles (Devera), Ricky Martin, Andrew Randy (Brittany) one daughter Cileen Ashley (Nelson) and six grandchildren, Corey, Carey, Cynthia, Jessica, Mary Lou, and Breanna. He leaves to be treasured in their hearts, his three brothers, Philip (Beatrice), Charlie, John (Ursula) sisters-in-law, Mary, and Nellie; his mother-in-law Christine Crate and all her nine daughters (Andrews special sisters-in-law) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Isaac; mother Charlotte; two brothers, Julius (Mary), and Percy (Nellie) two sisters, Leona, and Myrtle; sister-in-law Nora (Charlie) his father-in-law William Halcrow; and brother-in-law William (Junior) Halcrow. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, August 13 at 9:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr. Wake to follow. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., also at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Antoine Lathlin officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will take place at the Gilbert Park Gymnasium, 45B Gilbert Ave., following interment. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Lathlin, John Lathlin, Jerry Lathlin, Clayton Lathlin, Darryl Lathlin, William McGillivary, Rodney McGillivary, Gordon Mayer, Steven Lathlin, T.J. Lathlin, Paul McKay, Edward Gamblin and Andy Captain. Active pallbearers will be William Charles, Andrew Randy, Ricky Martin, Philip Lathlin, Henry Christie, and Robbie Lathlin.
