JOHN K. REMPEL On Saturday, August 10, 2002, Mr. John K. Rempel of Niverville, MB, passed away at the age of 86 years at the St. Pierre Hospital. John was born September 18, 1915 in Hochfeld, MB. He married Mary Kehler on October 18, 1938 and they were blessed with 63 years of married life. Prior to moving to Paraguay in 1948, he owned and operated a general repair shop in Silberfeld, MB. After returning to Canada in 1950, John worked as a mechanic for W.G. Loeppky for 20 years after which he started a small engine repair business in Niverville. He kept up his interest in engine and watch repair until quite recently. He was appreciated by many who needed a chauffeur or other help of any kind. John and Mary were founding members of Word of Life Mission Church and strong supporters of many other Christian ministries. John is survived by his loving wife Mary (nee Kehler) five children, Herman (Jeanne), Esther Brandt (Alvin) both of Winnipeg, Danny (Marjorie) of Blumenort, Jake (Sue) of Sandy Hook, and Neil (Audrey) of Niverville; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ben (Evelyn) and Albert (Luella) two sisters, Jessie and Mary; brothers-in-law, Jacob (Tina) Kehler, Abe (Helen) Kehler; sisters-in-law, Tina (Jacob) Stoesz, Nettie Hiebert, Anne Hiebert; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14 at 1:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church, Niverville, with Pastor Tassos Xanthopoulos officiating. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Tuesday, August 13, 7:30 p.m. with devotional at 8:00 pm. If so desired, donations in Johns memory may be made to the John K. Rempel Memorial Fund at the Word of Life Mission Church, Box 310, Niverville, MB. ROA 1E0.
