DOROTHY KOMUS (nee SCHAPPERT) On Tuesday, August 13, 2002 Dorothy Komus passed away at Deer Lodge Centre with family at her side. Dorothy was 93 years of age and had been in failing health for several years. She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothea and Philip Schappert; brothers, Martin, Roy and Ron Schappert and Carl Schaeffer; sisters, Minnie Fraser, Lena Carlisle, and Katherine Johnson. She is survived by her husband Nicholas Komus; brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph, Arthur and Gwen Komus; and by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Dorothy and Nicholas lived in Transcona for many years. They had recently moved to Calvary Place Personal Care Home. Dorothy was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She enjoyed ceramics, lapidary and helping Nicholas with his photography. Dorothy worked at the Bay for many years. Service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 17 at 4:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. In place of flowers, friends may make donations in Dorothys memory to a charity of their choice.
