JOHN (JACK) RICHARD CRADDOCK John Richard (Jack), died September 12, 2001, in New York in his 81st year, husband of the late Frances (Jones) of Clonard Ave., St. Vital, son of the late Jack and Mary Craddock of Berrydale Ave., St. Vital; greatly missed father of John Gordon (Judy), Dan (Karen), Ron (Barb), Marijean Marck (Eddie) and loving grandpa of Chris, Erik, Stuart, Spencer, David, Danny, John, Robert, Desiree and Candace. He served in the Second World War from 1939 to 1945 with the Princess Patricias Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) in Europe and Africa. He was also a Canadian member of the British Combined Operations (Commandos). He started with Trans Canada Airlines in Winnipeg in 1946 and he retired 36 years later in New York from Air Canada. He was also a member of the Masonic Order for over 55 years, which included Windsor Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He was a Shriner and member of Khartum Temple in Winnipeg to which he regularly returned and where he greatly enjoyed many festivities and functions with friends. In his retirement years, John loved to garden and found great joy in it. He remarked about how beautiful spring was, saying that even if we lived to be 100, we would only see the spring come a hundred times, so we should appreciate its beauty every chance we got. He taught us all that one has to look for and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us in this world. He also taught us to share our passions and joys with our family and friends. He showed us that a life well lived brings joy when you live it, joy when you remember it and joy when others remember you. A memorial service and interment to be at St. Vital Cemetery on Friday, August 16, 10:00 a.m. Any friends wishing to send remembrance to the family may do so at dfc@sympatico.ca THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
