WILLIAM (BILL) REGINALD FORBES Peacefully at the Tiger Hills Health Centre on Wednesday, August 14, 2002, Mr. Bill Forbes of Rathwell, MB, passed away at the age of 74 years. Bill is survived by his wife Jean; daughter Patti Manniss and her partner Serge Charron; son Raymond; daughter-in-law Dawn; grandson Scott; three aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Reg and Louise; sister Agnes Watkins; and brothers, Darrell, Bob and Grant. Bill was born in Rathwell on January 2, 1928. He moved with his parents and younger brother Grant into Winnipeg around 1942. Later, after working in a bush camp in Ontario, Bill joined the Army in 1948 where he began learning his trade with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (R.C.E.M.E.). He volunteered and served one tour of duty in Korea before returning for a year in Shilo. He then moved to Fort Churchill where he met and married Georgina (Jean) Seymour in 1955. Bill and Jeans children, Patti and Raymond were born in 1956 and 1958. In 1968 Bill took his discharge from the Army, returned to Manitoba and continued to pursue his trade as a mechanic with the Manitoba Department of Highways and Brooks Equipment in Winnipeg and Metcalfes Garage in Treherne. He later began Forbes Mobile Repair. He was constantly studying and working at his trade. The time spent working and visiting with his customers on their farms and in their garages were his happiest times. In 1992, Bill contracted cancer and retired. After moving to Treherne in 1995, he spent much of his free time helping his fellow seniors. With respect for Bills wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held in the Rathwell Memorial Hall on Saturday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend James Haupt officiating. Interment to follow in the Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Care or to Cancer Research. Adams Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in care of arrangements. Phone 248-2201 or 1-888-400-2326
