Date of Passing: Aug 14, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) FRANCIS BREWER Peacefully slipped into eternal rest on August 14, 2002 at Deer Lodge Centre. Bill is survived by his beloved wife Grace; son David (Judy) and their children, Christopher and Melinda; daughter Bev Duncan and her children, Meghan and Evan; and many special nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Francis Barton Brewer and Margaret C. Gustafson; sister Irene Young; two nephews; two sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. Bill was born on April 20, 1924 in Ribstone, AB, moving to Manitoba in his early teens. He served in the Second World War in the Royal Canadian Service Corps in Holland, Germany and Italy. Bill was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 97. He volunteered many years visiting in Deer Lodge and shut-ins at home. Bill was involved with the Boy Scouts Organizations at Harrow School in earlier years. Shortly after being united in marriage with Grace Pepper, Bill spent two years working on the Alaskan Highway. Following that, he returned to Winnipeg where he spent most of his career working with Emco in the wholesale plumbing and heating industry. In recent years, Bill enjoyed his Golden Links Thursday Day Club and his Tuesdays with YMCA/YWCA. Family and his home were very important to Bill. He was a quiet man, a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Bill enjoyed the quietness of nature, watching deer in the forest and the birds and squirrels playing in the trees. Jazz, the family dog, needed her ears rubbed too. Bill enjoyed the simple things of life. We will miss you, my love, but memories will stay in our hearts forever. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to 2 South and T5 at Deer Lodge for the special care given and a special thanks to the Chaplain who came out of the night to comfort us in our time of sorrow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Gifts of love may be made to the charity of ones choice. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 19 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow.
