Isabel was born December 13, 1922 in the Lundar area. She moved away at a young age to work. She lived a short time in Carman, Fort William (Thunder Bay) and Winnipeg. Most of her years were spent in Lundar. Mom and Dad were married in 1958. They spent many happy years together fishing, trapping, haying, carpentry and mink ranching. Mom was a member of the UVD and was instrumental in the paving of Lundars streets, through fundraising efforts and hard work got Lundars Goose Statue "flying". She was a member of the Lundar Golf Course, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and belonged to the Lundar Lutheran Church. Education has always been very important to mom and was a coordinator for Adult Education and hosted an upgrading course in her basement. Mom was always happiest when she was working. She was a machinist, building hell-diver planes in the Second World War; she worked at the Carman locker cutting and wrapping meat; Gypsumlime, Winnipeg; she owned a dress shop in Glenboro; worked at Paulins Chambers in Winnipeg; and was a mink rancher in Lundar for 15 years. She always said that her best times were when she was working on the mink ranch with her husband and kids. She enjoyed berry picking with her sisters and girls, gardening, yard work and in the winter, she enjoyed curling and oil painting. She took a lot of pride in her grandchildren and felt blessed to spend a lot of time with them. She enjoyed people stopping in for tea and visiting, family get-togethers with her siblings (fondly known as "the kids") and playing music. She liked talking about old times and the people she had been associated with. She always liked to hear a good joke, have a good laugh, and she liked people. She would always ask how everyone was doing, she was happy with their successes and concerned about their well-being. She was a very quiet person and did everything in a quiet manner. Mom was very strong willed, a good listener, and a good adviser. She never seemed to worry about things she could not fix. Her favorite saying to her kids and grandchildren was "let the horse worry about it, it has a bigger head!" We would like to thank Dr. Burnet, all staff at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for the kindness and caring throughout moms hospitalization over the last three months; Lundar Ambulance Service and Mindy Johannson (nurse escort) for their caring and willingness to transfer her from Brandon to Eriksdale; doctors and staff of the Brandon General Hospital this past week; Erickson Ambulance for their care and support to mom and her family; doctors and staff of the Erickson Hospital; Sharon and Bob Perry at Thunderbird Bungalows, Clear Lake, for their care and support to us and taking care of our girls. To honor her memory, and at her request, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lundar Lutheran Church, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOMES, LTD. Ashern - Lundar 1-204-768-2072
