Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION OLIVE MACDONALD 1906 - 2002 Peacefully, on Thursday, August 15, 2002 Marion died at the Extendicare-Oakview Place Nursing Home at the age of 95 years. Marion is survived by her son, David Macdonald (Gladys) daughter Heather MacLeod (Blair) six grandchildren, Donna (Glen), Deanna (Bill), Tracey (Eldon), Janet (Larry), Ian, Kyle (Sharon) seven great-grandchildren, Krystle, Tyler, Ciara, Carly, Marcede, Owen and Maxwell and by one sister Jean Bowie of Oakville, ON. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilfrid. Born in Brandon, MB, Marion was one of four children. In 1928, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Childrens Hospital of Winnipeg. She told many stories of her work in Chicago in the 1930s, where she obtained a Post Graduate Degree in Obstetrics. Marion returned to Manitoba to work with the Victoria Order of Nurses in the Scanterbury area. After the death of her husband, Wilfrid, she returned to work at the Deer Lodge Hospital until her retirement. Marion enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels and was an active member of Deer Lodge United Church. She spent several happy years as a resident of the Lions Place. On Monday, August 19, Marions funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave. at Belvidere Street, with Rev. Peter Douglas officiating. Words cannot describe the special care given to Marion by the staff at Oakview Place, especially during her final days. Thank you all.
