LILIAN MACKIE It is with much sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, on August 16, 2002 at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, MB. Lilian was born in Middlesex, England September 26, 1905. She came to Canada with her parents, William and Nell Fulcher in 1907. They settled in Winnipeg where she lived until 1935, when she married George Mackie and moved to Stony Mountain where she resided until 2001. Lilian was a loving, caring Mother who always put her family first. She had time for everyone. She had many joys in life reading, travelling, knitting and crocheting afghans, which are a comfort to family and friends. Her true passion was cooking and baking. Her thin pancakes were always a treat. As well as being a homemaker, Lilian was very proud of her careers with the CNR and the Department of National Defence. Lilian was a member of the Stony Mountain United Church, serving many years on the board in numerous capacities. She was a life time member of the UCW as well as Past Matron and life member of Jephthah No. 28 OES for 68 years. Lilian was also a member of Althea Shrine WSOJ and the Rebeccas. Lilian is survived by her daughter Alwyn Ammeter; grandchildren, Geordie, Bill (Diane), Heather (Grant) and Linda (Dan) and great-grandchildren, Alex, Torie, Quin, Hannah and Erica plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George (1977), brother Owen (Anne) and her son-in-law Hank (2001). The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the nursing and auxiliary staff of Rosewood Lodge - Appleyard Bay. Your kindness and loving care will always be remembered. We would also like to extend a very special thanks to Shirley and Eric for all their love and support. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 19 at the Stony Mountain United Church at 2:00 p.m. Deborah Vitt will officiate. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Stony Mountain United Church, South Interlake Library, or a charity of your choice. Those we hold most dear never truly leave us... They live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
