MARTHA JANE MELVILLE June 17, 1907 - August 13, 2002 After a healthy and happy life, our dear "Aunt Mart" passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Martha was the first of six children born to Kate and William Melville of Bannerman, MB. Predeceasing Martha were her mother and father, as well as sister Mildred and brothers, Jack and Bill. Sharing our loss are her dear sisters, Florence Robinson and family of Vancouver and Helen Clemis and family of Taber, AB; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Aunt Mart will be dearly missed by Barry Melville and family of Winnipeg. Martha grew up on the family farm near Killarney and later took her nurses training at the "General Hospital", graduating in 1932. Marthas medical career was quite diversified and distinguished and continued into her late 60s when she worked at the medical college where she was involved with cancer research. Aunt Mart was a sports enthusiast who loved watching her nephews and nieces participate in many sports. One particular team that "Aunt Mart" cherished was the 1963 Provincial Pony Champs from the Crescentwood Community Club. Aunt Mart was everyones biggest fan as well as being official scorekeeper, water girl, and transportation specialist. Her only shortcoming was her undying faith in the Toronto Maple Leafs. So sad. Aunt Marts legacy to her family will be so many fond memories of family events at Killarney and Pelican Lake, as well as trips to Taber and Vancouver. Aunt Mart was an avid collector and "Master Scrapbook Maker". Her 18 binders of family lineage and memorabilia will live on for eternity. At Marthas request, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Marthas life will take place on Monday, August 19. Those wishing to attend should confirm their intentions by phoning 889-2911. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Oakview-Extendicare Nursing Home for their professionalism and compassionate care of Martha. Your work is of the highest humanitarian order. Thank you. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
