Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN MICHAEL STECY May 1, 1911 - August 17, 2002 Peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2002, Stephen Stecy, aged 91 years, dearly beloved husband of the late Anne Stecy, passed away at the Park Manor Personal Care Home. Stephen was the eldest of 12 children born to Michael and Anna Stecy of St. Norbert, MB. As a youth and a first generation Canadian, he worked on the family farm marketing fresh vegetables in the city. At the age of 25, he met Anne Machewski (East Selkirk), and a few short months later, on August 1, 1936, they wed. They resided in St. Norbert for a number of years where he was a mechanic and operated his own "Stecy Motors" garage. In 1960 another move brought his family to East Selkirk where they resided until 1972. The remainder of his years were spent in Transcona, employed at Princess Auto until his retirement at age 70. He took pride in his craft as a mechanic, and enjoyed sharing his expertise with others. Stephen loved his pets, and had many throughout his life. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Tony, David (Diane) of Kaleden, BC, and Lawrence of Nanaimo, BC; daughter Helen (Stan) eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay Bamburak, Pauline Demshar (Toronto), Julia, Stella (Pete) Skochylas, Olga Wilgosh; brothers Bill (Anne) and Nick. Stephen was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Anne; parents, Michael and Anna Stecy; brother Harry; sisters, Rose Soltowski, Mary Stopera, and Nellie Diduch. Prayers will be sung on Tuesday, August 20 (tonight) at 7:30 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day St., with Rev. Fr. Andrew Wach officiating. Interment will follow in Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. You are finally with Baba.
