ALBERT LEIGH COATES Sadly, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother, Al Coates on August 19, 2002. Dad was born in Spring Lake, SK on November 22, 1919. The family later moved to Winnipeg and its been home ever since. Dad spent the last 50 years in the family home where he took great pride in doing all the interior, exterior and yard work. Dad was a perfectionist and it showed in the loving care of his home. Dad worked for Singers Sewing Machine Co. for 14 years before opening his own shop in St. Boniface. He quickly became well known and appreciated by his customers for his fairness, honesty and thoroughness. Alron Sewing Center is still in operation today. Dad had a great love of nature and enjoyed his veranda and back yard. He spent many hours on his swing in back with his dogs as companions. His greatest joy was having his two daughters his granddaughters and his great grandchildren drop in for a visit or going for a "hot" cup of coffee with them. He had a great sense of humour, loved playing jokes on us, whistling old marching tunes, and was always ready with his crooked little smile and wave. Dad will be greatly missed by his daughters, Dallen and Chris; son-in-law Bob; sister Margaret; granddaughters, Michelline, Sherene, Bonnie-Jean, Joaline, Shaunna, Jenna; and six great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at NBI Services, 3030 Notre Dame Ave., across form Brookside Cemetery. Private interment to follow. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
