Date of Passing: Aug 14, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK CECIL JACOBS Peacefully on August 14, 2002, our beloved father, Frank Cecil Jacobs, passed away at the age of 87 in Edmonton, AB. The quote "may we live in interesting times" surely applied to Frank. Born in Lauder, MB, in 1914, he was a teenager and young man during the Depression. He embarked on an illustrious teaching career beginning in 1936. He started in a one room school house in Grand Bend and completed his career in a high school in Boissevain in 1975. Franks career was interrupted during the war, when he went to Dundurn, SK, to teach cadets. He taught in a number of rural southern Manitoba communities including Ridgeville, Elva, Carroll, Lyleton, Warren, Lenore, Rapid City, Sidney and Boissevain. Frank loved to garden and spend time in his workshop. He could build almost anything out of wood. He loved to go camping and in the summertime with school out, the whole family would set out on cross-country adventures. The summertime was very busy for Frank with family events and summer school in Winnipeg, where he obtained his Bachelor of Education degree. In later years Frank and his wife, Marg, enjoyed travelling, but their favourite spot was close to home camping at Lake William in the Turtle Mountain Provincial Park. Frank was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Marg (Skuce) in 1990. He was also predeceased by his father and mother, Ernest and May; his sisters, May and Betty; and his brothers, Jim, Vic and Jack. Frank will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughter Kathy (husband Brian Hval), son Brian, son Barry and daughter Donna (husband Darryl Ballance) and granddaughters, Arielle and Darian. He is survived by his sister Olive (husband Ken Sellens). At Franks request, interment to take place at a private ceremony in Boissevain, MB.
