VICTOR (VIC) PALMER It is with sadness that we announce the passing, on August 19, 2002, of Victor Albert (Vic) Palmer, after a brave battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Vicki Blackwood; son-in-law Don Blackwood; grandsons, David and John Blackwood; his stepdaughter Sharon Buckley; his brothers, Reg Palmer and Cyril Palmer and wife Mabel; his sister-in-law Beverley Lamb and husband Duncan; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Vic was born on the family farm outside MacGregor, MB on April 22, 1919. Throughout his youth he excelled in hockey and baseball. He proudly served during the Second World War as a flying instructor for the RCAF in England. After his return Vic began his career with Monarch Life as a life underwriter and for 50 years provided expert counsel in the areas of pension plans and personal insurance. He was deeply involved in the administrative aspects of curling for decades, serving as the President of the Grain Exchange C.C., President of the Manitoba Curling Association, General Chairman of the 1978 Silver Broom and Honourary Chairman of the 1988 Silver Broom. Vics life was enriched by his enthusiasm for golf, bridge, world travel, gardening, playing his trumpet, winters in Florida and summers at Nutimik Lake.
