EDNA PEARL ROE (nee DRAIN) On Sunday, August 18, 2002, at the Misericordia Health Centre in Winnipeg, Edna Pearl Roe, formerly of Portage, passed away at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by her husband Hubert "Jumbo," son Wayne Hourie, parents, Edward and Mabel Drain; brothers, Leroy, Harold, and Edward Drain; and sisters, Lorena Scram and Verna Slater. Edna is survived by son Gerald Hourie of Winnipeg, brothers, Robert (Marilyn) Drain of Winnipeg, and Raymond (Doreen) Drain of Portage; sisters, Ila Bell of Calgary and Vina Boddy of Portage; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Edna was involved as a care provider and as a nursing assistant with family members. She served the public through Teddy Cafe on Henderson Highway in Winnipeg. Edna will be missed by many family and friends who had the privilege to know her. Graveside service for the late Edna Roe will be on Wednesday morning, August 21 led by the Rev. Norman Collier. Family and friends are invited to gather at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, to proceed to Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 10:45 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ednas memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Edna by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are entrusted with the arrangements. 857-4021.
