ETHEL MARGARET HILL (PLEWMAN) On August 20, 2002 at the age of 91 years peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, Marg left us to join her beloved Bill. Marg was predeceased by Bill, her husband of 43 years in 1990; her parents, Edith and Alfred Plewman; sister Lillian Warrington of England and May Metcalfe of Richmond Hill, ON; and brother Roy Plewman of Toronto. She is survived by her children, son Doug (Karen) daughter Peggy; grandchildren, Bernice, Lawrence, Shannon, Dustan, Marissa, Michael and David; as well as six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marg was born in Toronto and grew up in Richmond Hill, ON, a few generations ahead of her time. She loved her nursing career and relished in telling of her adventures in Red Cross outpost hospitals, the majority across Northern Ontario. It was while posted in Emo, ON where she met Bill, and it was love at first sight for both of them. They married on January 18, 1947 in Emo, and established their family there. Career moves took the family to Illinois, Wisconsin and Brandon, MB before they settled permanently in Carman in 1963. Carman became their true home. In Carman, Marg began the Newcomers Club, brought the Welcome Wagon to town, and enjoyed golfing and curling and held positions on the executives of both those clubs. She also held executive positions and was an active member in the Manitoba Ladies Veterinary Association, she was an active U.C.W. member and so much more. Marg lived life to the fullest and brought a piece of sunshine to all who knew her. She touched many lives with her quick wit and ready cheer. Marg and Bill always looked forward to the time they could spend at Point Chimo on Clearwater Lake near Emo, and their happiest and most relaxing times were spent there with family and friends. Many of their friends have cherished memories of visits to Chimo. The game of bridge was another favourite pastime Marg and Bill enjoyed with special friends. And oh how they loved to dance! As were Margs wishes, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Margs life will be held at the Carman United Church on Friday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to the Alzheimer Society, 205 Edmonton St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1R4. Good Bye Mom, we love you. Give Dad a hug and kiss from all of us. Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements.
