MARY PENNER 1921 - 2002 Mary Penner, aged 81, passed away at Riverview Health Centre on August 19 as a result of a chronic lung illness. She was recently a resident of Bethel Place, Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Helena Penner; brothers, Henry, Dan; and sister Helene Schellenberg. She is survived by her brother Jim (Margo) and sisters, Marge Smith, Ruth Young, Kay Johns; and special friend Abe Penner; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary spent many years as a teacher, a profession that she found very fulfilling. The school holidays provided excellent opportunities for travelling which she enjoyed so much. Her leisure time was also filled with creativity such as oil painting, watercolours, petit point, writing poetry, and entertaining. Many of Marys friends and family became recipients of her works of art. She had a profound faith in God, whom she loved and trusted. The marvels of Gods creation always intrigued her. The memorial service for Mary will be held on Friday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bethel Mennonite Church, Carter Avenue and Stafford Street, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place.
