AUDREY KATHLEEN BURDETT On Tuesday, August 20, 2002 Audrey Kathleen Burdett of Oak Point, MB passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Fred of 46 years; sons, Lance (Erin) Burdett, Rick Burdett; daughters, Gail (Chuck) West, Shelley (Kelly) Krause, and Penny (Ron) Byron; 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Darah, Adam, Holly, Andrew, Amanda, Nicole, Jill, Jamie, Brenden, Brittany, and Katie; also her mother Kathleen Sigurdson; brothers, Ed (Louise) Sigurdson, Franklin (Ella) Sigurdson; sisters, Josie Harris, Ivy (Allan) Backman; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends; brothers-in-law, Charlie (Pat) Burdett, Stan (Edna) Burdett, Ken (Agatha) Burdett; sisters-in-law, Fran Thompson, Rose Burdett, and Florence Burdett. She was predeceased by her father Johannes Sigurdson; mother-in-law Grace and father-in-law Bert Burdett; brothers-in-law, Lynn Harris, Dave Thompson, Jim Burdett, Joe and Fjiola Burdett, Dave Burdett, Jack Burdett and Frank Burdett. Audrey served as secretary treasurer for the Oak Point Community Centre Board. She worked for two years at the Lundar Golf and Country Club as clubhouse manager, where she enjoyed making new friends and acquaintances. Moms enthusiasm towards travelling seemed to take a back seat when it came to her love for Fred and their five children and 12 grandchildren. Mom prided herself with a "neat as a pin", well-decorated home. The yard work gave Mom and Dad great pleasure to work in together. There were always extra vegetables and fresh buns for the kids to take home. Christmas time was always a special time to enjoy, not only as family members, but for the community also. The driveway was aglow with the candles, the traditional Santa and reindeer and it seemed a new piece was added every winter. Halloweens were a fun time to dress up and even win a prize or two for her costume. Mom fought such a brave battle until her release; thanks to Gail for her untiring quest to find a way for Mom. Mom lived her life with dignity, pride and courage. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Point East Cemetery, with Rev. Melanie Kauppila officiating. In case of inclement weather the service will be held at the Oak Point Community Hall. Everyone in attendance can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Thanks to Drs. Kristjanson and Burnett, nurses and staff of Seven Oaks, HSC Cancer Care, and Angel Room, especially to those at E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, your compassion with our family and especially with Mom and Dad will be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Arrangements By: Arnason Funeral Home Ashern - Lundar 204-768-2072
