HELEN FRIESEN (nee KEHLER) 1932 - 2002 It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Helen Friesen announce her passing on August 18, 2002 at the St. Pierre Hospital, MB. Brothers-in-law, Peter (Maria) of Steinbach, George (Esther) of St. Paul, AB. Sisters-in-law, Mary of Steinbach, and Ellen of Winnipeg; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Neil in 1996; father Peter in 1985; mother Susanna (nee Harder) in 1994; father-in-law John in 1964; mother-in-law Aganetha (nee Schroeder) in 1993; and sisters, Hanna (1933), and Aganetha (1942). Helen was born on the family farm in the Landmark area on May 26, 1932 and had many fond memories of growing up on the farm and attending the local Shakespeare School. She married Neil on July 29, 1951 and after a few years in St. Boniface they moved to Niverville where they owned the Pines Restaurant from 1968 to 1986 when the onset of Moms illness allowed them a more leisurely outlook towards life. Mom and Dad always considered themselves fortunate to enjoy this gift of time together and used it wisely. Always on the go, those who knew Mom admired her spirit and determination. She valued her time with family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whatever the occasion. Mom, from all those of us whose lives you touched in so many different ways, rest well, you will be missed. A service to celebrate Helens life will be held at the Fourth Avenue Bible Church, 62 Fourth Ave. South, Niverville MB, Saturday, August 24 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in the Niverville Cemetery. Viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Dr., Steinbach, on Friday, August 23 from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. Mom was active in the Niverville United Church and if friends so desire as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Church Memorial Fund in her name. The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to Helens many friends, Dr. Abbett and all the staff at St. Pierre Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
