ELIZABETH (BETTY) KATHLEEN PATEMAN (nee HAINES)

Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) KATHLEEN PATEMAN (nee HAINES) 1922 - 2002 On August 21, 2002, after a lengthy illness, Betty passed away peacefully at the Concordia Place Care Home at the age of 79 years. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Leonard; daughter Janet (John) Mattis of Sandy Hook; sons, Walker (Barb), Stuart (Judy) of Winnipeg, and Howard (Vi) of St. Albert, AB; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Betty will be missed by her life long friends, Ethel and Iris. She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Elizabeth Haines and sister Myfanwy. Betty was born December 2, 1922 in Killarney, MB. She moved at a very young age to East Kildonan and went to Lord Wolseley, Prince Edward, E.K. Collegiate and University of Winnipeg. Betty and Len were married in 1941 and after the war moved back to East Kildonan where they raised their four children. Betty spent more than 25 years in real estate with Atlas Realty and Royal Trust. She was active in Girl Guides and Rangers, as Captain for many years. She loved to play golf and she bowled with the Roc-Lin Ladies for over 45 years. Betty and Len loved to travel going to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, from sea to sea in Canada and their last trip was an Alaskan cruise in 1999. The family would like to thank the staff on 3rd floor of Concordia Place Care Home for the care and kindness shown to Betty. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 23 at Concordia Place Chapel, 1000 Molson St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetic Society.
