Our Wife, Mother and Grandmother MARY TOMKEWICH (nee ZADOROZNY) It is with sadness that we announce the passing on August 20, 2002 of Mary Tomkewich, aged 79 years. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her husband Michael of 47 years; son Michael (Pamela), granddaughter Natasha; and grandson Jeston; brother Michael (Kay) Godchild Elaine; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Telkia and father Stephan and sister Anne. Mary was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending Earl Grey and Kelvin High Schools. During wartime, she worked for MacDonalds Aircraft and then for Blue Cross. She was active with the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, Womens Auxiliary. Mary was a caring and compassionate person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is at peace now, and we will miss her dearly. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1001 Grant Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Mark Gnutel officiating. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff and volunteers of the Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion during the past few months. In memory of Mary and in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Grace General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, R3J 3M7 or charity of ones choice.
