Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Edith (Taylor) daughter Bev and husband John Venn, their children, Roger and wife Darlene, Ryan, Barry and fiance Krista, daughter Diane Zimmerman, and granddaughter Danielle Dyck. Ron is survived by his sister Louise and husband Bill Kletke; sisters-in-law, Fern Zimmerman, Norma and Bill Schuh of California, Pat Taylor; brother-in-law Fred and wife Irene Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents John and Philipina (Mohr) brothers, Edward and Ewald (Buddy) sisters, Sophie Platz and Caroline; and brothers-in-law, Walter Taylor and Wally Platz. Ron was born in Winnipeg on September 22, 1918. He grew up in Elmwood, where he met and later married Edie, on June 20, 1942. During the Second World War, Ron was stationed in Brandon, where he served with the Army as a Quarter Master in the stores department. After the war, Ron worked as a meter reader with the City of Winnipeg. Ron was later employed with Lewis Instruments Limited, which he eventually owned and operated until his retirement in 1986. During Rons retirement years, he spent many hours in his workshop. There he took great pride in creating many beautiful intarsia pieces, which he so generously shared with his family and friends. Ron was always ready with his tool box in hand, to build or repair anything that needed fixing. Rons greatest love and pride was his family and grandchildren. He was well respected by the business community, and by family and friends alike. Anyone who knew Ron was always touched in some way by his kindness and generosity. We will miss you dearly, and love you forever. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26 at Gordon King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Ave. A reception is to follow at Glen Eden Rection Centre, 4477 Main St. If so desired, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
