JOYCE HELEN BURNS After a lengthy illness, Joyce passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at Victoria General Hospital. Joyce was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Eva Burns. Joyce was born in Winnipeg, March 24, 1922. She received her schooling here and graduated with a B.A. from the University of Manitoba in 1943 and a M.A. from the University of Toronto in 1948. Joyce was a professor in the Psychology Department of the University of Manitoba until her early retirement in 1963. Joyce had an excellent rapport with her students and made many good friends during her years at the university. In 1965 Joyce moved to Tenerife, Canary Islands where she lived until 1970. Joyce was predeceased by her brother Kenneth in 1997 and is survived by her sisters, Carol and Daphne; her very good friend Martha (Patty) Grimmer; and her goddaughter Toni Sutherland of Toronto. The family would like to thank the staff of Misericordia Place Personal Care Home for their care of Joyce during her long illness. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. in Misericordia Place Personal Care Home, 44 Furby St. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
