GUSTAVE LEVESQUE April 6, 1916 - August 21, 2002 Peacefully, after a brief illness, Gustave passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at the St. Boniface Hospital. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie-Marthe (nee Gagnon) and his five children, Armand (Eveline), Annette Partridge (Tom Vigue), Denis (Shirley), Huguette Gobeil (Leo) and Rachel Brown. Also left to cherish his memory are his 10 grandchildren, Robert and Martin Levesque, Nicole Partridge, Danielle and Jason Levesque, Chantale and Joel Gobeil, and Liette, Rhonda and Jolene Brown. He was proud of his nine great-grandchildren. Pepere took great comfort when he met and spent time with his great-granddaughter Romane, who was born on his birthday this year. Gustave is also survived by two brothers, Don (Lea) Levesque and Alfred (Anita) Levesque; five sisters, Odile Vermette, Sr. Adrienne, S.N.J.M., Agathe Lacasse, Armande Faso and Lea Fenez. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Antonia (Bouchard) Levesque; three brothers, Armand in infancy, Joseph "Joe", and Louis Levesque; two sisters, Augustine Robert and Solange Cardinal. He was also predeceased by two sons-in-law. Gustave was born in Aubigny and bought the Philippe Gauthier farm in Ste. Agathe in 1948. He retired from farming in 1982 and built a house on Lemoine Street in town. In 1994 Gustave and Marie-Marthe moved to Place Des Meurons in St. Boniface. Gustave served as a member of the board of the Caisse Populaire of Sainte-Agathe for many years. He was also a school trustee for R.R.S.D. Gustave enjoyed his visits to "la Belle Province", his fishing trips with his grandchildren and his hunting trips with Leo. No one could "outpick" him in the blueberry bush or the strawberry field. He was a champion at 500 and shuffleboard. Gustave will be remembered for his great faith, generosity, and also for his strength and courage shown in the past year. There will be a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 in the Ste. Agathe Roman Catholic Church and will be presided by Father Charles Fillion. Interment will follow in the Ste. Agathe Parish Cemetery.
