MARIA MARGITS Peacefully after a long illness Maria Margits passed away at the age of 80 years, on Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Health Sciences Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Vinko; daughter Maria Fewster, husband Del; son Jerry, wife Stefica; grandchildren, Susan Senga, Valerie Lucket (John), Steven Fewster (Chanda), Laura Novak (John) great-grandchildren, Joseph Senga, Shannon Lucket, Tyler Fewster, Mary Novak, Katrina Novak; two brothers in Croatia, Antun and Franjo and family; niece Vlasta and family in Winnipeg; many relatives and friends across Canada, in Europe and the U.S.A. Maria was predeceased by her father Antun Hanjilec and mother Maria Hanjilec (Vicpalek). Mom was born in Meduric, Croatia, on August 28, 1921. Maria, Jerry and Maria came to Canada in April 1952, and they settled in Winnipeg where Dad who had come in January was waiting. Mom loved to bake, care for their garden and flowers, especially her beautiful violets. Mom and Dad travelled to Europe, across Canada and the U.S.A. For many years they wintered in Florida and Texas. Prayers will be held on Sunday, August 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicolas Tavelich Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main St., with Rev. Franjo Visaticki officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge, Spruce Ward and the doctors and staff on GD4 Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Moms memory to Canadian Diabetes Association of Manitoba, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6, or Fred Douglas Lodge, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2X 0B6.
