LAWRENCE WEST Suddenly, on August 19, 2002, at Concordia Hospital, Mr. Lawrence West, beloved husband of Jean and father of Evelyn. Lawrence was born at Mount Clemens, MI on March 1, 1919, but was orphaned at a young age, being raised on the farm of his uncle and aunt, Robert and Hattie West, near Lucky Lake, SK. The Depression brought Lawrence and his relatives to Headingley, where he engaged in various jobs until the Second World War. He served in the Canadian Army until a vehicle accident put him in Deer Lodge Hospital for the duration. After the war and his recovery, Lawrence found a job with Eatons Mail Order, where he served in Western Packing until its closure in 1976. Faced with health problems, Lawrence spent the remainder of his life in retirement. After the war, Lawrence met Jean Heatley of Headingley, and they were married in 1949. He is also survived by his nephew Robert Heatley and close friend Fran; niece Jeannie Sweetland, Ron and family; niece Shirley Waldner, Sam and family; niece Maggie Bean and family; cousins, Frank Roy of Saskatoon and Warren Roy of Calgary; also special friend Randy Rostecki. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Death only comes to let us know We love more deeply than we show. But love in death should let us see What love in life should always be. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
