FLORENCE MAY HOLLIS (nee HUMPHREYS) Flo passed on peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2002 after a short illness. Having sincerely lived her Christian faith, she has gone on to join her beloved husband Harry, sister Grace, and mother Christine in Heaven. Flo lived and loved a full 88 years and she and Harry enjoyed many activities together throughout their more than 50 years of marriage. Avid tennis players in their youth, they moved on to fishing and curling and Flo became well known in both womens and mixed curling. In later years she competed just as skillfully at cribbage. She leaves to mourn her only child Kathleen (Shewfelt Boyd) and husband David Boyd; son-in-law Gordon Shewfelt; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Karen and Lyle Letain of Kenora, Wendy and Paolo Lizzi and children, Adrian and Julia of Dryden, Maureen Shewfelt-Fish and son Kyle of Thunder Bay, John Hollis Shewfelt and fiance Kathryn Nelson of Thunder Bay. Flo will be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends, particularly those within the Anglican community, Clearwater Bay, Appleton Estates, and the Portsmouth Retirement Residence. Her bright sunny smile, energetic approach to life, caring and appreciative attitude will be well remembered by the many people whose lives she touched and who called her "Friend". In lieu of flowers, donations to the church of your choice, Grace Hospital Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated. A celebration of Flos life will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Aidans Anglican Church, corner of Campbell and Kingsway, with Rev. Canon Dr. Arthur N. Thompson officiating. Reception to follow at the Portsmouth Retirement Residence, 125 Portsmouth Blvd. There will be a private family interment at Brookside Cemetery in the Hollis family plot.
