Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN SKRUPA On the morning of August 19, 2002, Jean (Dutchminski) Skrupa passed away peacefully to her rest at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home. She was born on November 1, 1907 and spent her early childhood in Sandy Lake. When still a young teenager, Jean began working as a housekeeper in rural Manitoba and in Brandon until her marriage to William Skrupa in 1933. Her husband predeceased her in 1940 after which she dedicated herself as a stay-at-home mom to her son, Michael Skrupa who predeceased her in 1992 and her daughter, Eleanor Whitehead. When her children both became teachers, she re-entered the working world as a Companion Care Giver in Winnipeg until her retirement in Erickson, MB. She was a diligent life-learner who taught herself to read and write in both Ukrainian and in English. As a faithful and much loved member of the Erickson Seventh Day Adventist Church, her commitment in life was to uphold the values of honesty and integrity in her home and community. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Fedora Dutchminski; her siblings, Victoria, Irene, Bessie, Dorothy, May, Tony and Myron; her grandson Garth; and her great-granddaughter Marie. Our precious mother and grandmother will be greatly missed by her daughter Eleanor; daughter-in-law Jean Skrupa; her five grandchildren, Dawna (Bob) Tompsett, Brad (Julie) Skrupa, Ron Skrupa, Candace and Kent Whitehead; and her three great-grandchildren, Kristen, Rob and Shawna Tompsett. Many thanks to the pallbearers, Brad and Ron Skrupa, Kristen and Rob Tompsett, John Philipation and Ray Zachary. Her family wishes to express much appreciation for all the loving care the community surrounded her with in her later years and for the dedicated and compassionate service she received by all the staff at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home. Sparrow Funeral Service of Minnedosa was in care of arrangements.
