CATERINA VOLO (nee PASSAFIUME) 1924 - 2002 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of my dear mother Caterina on Thursday, August 22, 2002, at the St. Josephs Residence in Winnipeg where she had resided for the last six years. My mom was born on July 3, 1924, in Racalmuto, Sicily. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Salvatore. They immigrated to Canada in 1955 where they settled in Toronto, then moved to Winnipeg in 1980. During Moms illness, she remained a very determined and strong lady. She fought a brave battle: she is a testament to how inner strength can overcome any obstacle. Mom leaves a legacy of unconditional love, kindness and consideration; she was a wonderful lady with a heart of gold. She lived her life with pride, dignity and courage. She was a caring and compassionate person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is at peace now, and we will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Ignazio and Nicolina (Passafiume) her husband Salvatore Volo; brother Nicola; and sisters, Alfonsa and Filomena. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Maria (David), her goddaughter Linda Sardo and numerous nieces and nephews from Winnipeg, Toronto and Italy. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at the St. Josephs Residence for all the loving care over the years for Mom. Thank-you and God Bless you all.
