CAROL ANN McISAAC Peacefully on August 25, 2002, Carol passed away at Riverview Health Centre with her family at her side. Carol battled her many illnesses over the years with great courage and dignity. Her strength and determination are an inspiration to those she touched. Carol is survived by her husband Dave; her son David (Tracy), grandchildren, Kieren and Aislynn; father William (Bill) Rieger; brothers, Al (Bev), Terry (Marlene) sisters, Lynne Belding (Jim, deceased), Sandi Dixon (Mike), Gail Harding (Gilles) and Glenda Evans (Don) plus numerous nieces. Carol was predeceased by her mother Rose Rieger in 1994 and brother-in-law Jim Belding in 2001. Carol was born in Regina, SK, on May 13, 1944. She attended school in Regina and upon graduation worked for the Regina Power Corporation. Carol moved with her family to Fredericton, NB, in 1963. It was at this time that she met Dave. Carol and Dave were married in Fredericton in 1966, it is believed by her many friends that Carol tolerating and loving Dave for over 36 years qualifies her for a medal or, at the very least, construction of a statue of her at Portage and Main. Carol was one of the pioneer "Home Care" dialysis patients in Manitoba. She became a master of fixing her dialysis machine by, as she put it, "giving it a good whack with a hammer." She was one of the kidney patients who worked diligently in creating a patient services manual for use by kidney patients across Canada. She was a resource person for medical professionals and spoke on a regular basis to graduate nursing classes. She was always ready, willing and able to be a resource to fellow patients. Despite the many health difficulties she lived with she did not allow them to get in the way of enjoying life. She loved her vacations in Palm Springs, she experienced the excitement of Bourbon Street in New Orleans, went to the top of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, and marvelled at the magic of the left field bleachers in Wrigley Field. Life to Carol was simple, she often said "the only important things in life were her family, faith and friends." She firmly believed that to have a wonderful son and daughter-in-law as well as two beautiful grandchildren were special blessings from God. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Pl. Cremation has occurred, interment at Assumption Cemetery will take place at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Gord Ayotte, David Bhattacharya, Thomas Henderson, Steve Milligan, Dillon Sullivan and Colin Urwin. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 101 - 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1L8. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Brian Penner, Dr. R. Metha and all staff at the Sherbrook Dialysis Centre, Dr. James Johnston and Giselle at CancerCare Manitoba, Drs. Ash Thompson and Allan Downs formerly of the Health Sciences Centre, the dedicated staff at Emergency Ward at HSC, and the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Riverview Health Centre. Very special thanks go to Mary, Sandi and Teresa for their caring and giving. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
