Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS MURRAY OLEKSUK On Saturday, August 24, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer, Doug Oleksuk, beloved husband, father and brother, passed away at the age of 60, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia; his daughter and son-in-law Shauna and Brent; son and daughter-in-law Trevor and Kirsty; brothers and sisters-in-law, Len and Gail, Rod and Iris; brother-in-law and wife John and Denise; and countless friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Jessie and Steve; brother Nelson; and daughter Tracy. Doug was born in Winnipeg, May 14, 1942. He graduated from Provencher Collegiate in 1958. He worked in the family hotel business prior to undertaking several business opportunities of his own, eventually working in the autobody business. Doug thoroughly enjoyed outdoor activities with his friends and relatives, with fishing and hunting being two of his favourite pastimes. Doug will be remembered as a gentle, caring man who loved his family dearly. He also touched many with his love for life and countless amusing stories. All who crossed his path have felt his joy and laughter. The family would like to thank our friends and relatives for all their tremendous support, as well as all the staff and nurses on GH3 at the Health Sciences Centre, especially Carol and Opal. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
