KENNETH LESLIE SIGURDSON With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Kenneth Leslie Sigurdson on Friday, August 23, 2002 at the age of 71 years. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Nina; daughter Karen Gottwald and husband Edward; daughter Nancy Krahn and husband Walter; grandchildren, Curt (wife Tanya), Jennifer, Mellissa, Michelle, Michael, Jeffrey and Chelsea who lovingly called him "Gramps" or "Papa"; brother Ernest; sister Shirley; and many friends and relatives. Ken was predeceased by his mother Sadie, father Kristjan, brother Norman and sister Edith. Dad was born in Libau, MB on June 21, 1931. He married Nina on October 28, 1950 and they resided in Winnipeg ever since. He worked for Western Glove for over 30 years as a supervisor of the cutting room. Before retiring he also worked with his son-in-laws business, KrahnKrete Construction Ltd. "Papa" gave his heart and soul to caring for his two youngest grandchildren, Jeffrey and Chelsea during his retirement years. Gramps cherished time with family and friends at his cabin, fishing at Virginland, hunting and spending time in the garden and raspberry patch with Granny. He was happy to dedicate many volunteer hours to the church and would always find the time to help family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, 7th floor, SICU for their incredible dedication and support. Prayers will be held on Monday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 730 McPhillips St. Interment of cremated remains to follow at St. James Church, Libau. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Psooy, Larry Kraitberg, Jonas Guttormson, Dolph Nobiss, Marvin Anderson and John White.
