Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN MORRIS REID 1905 - 2002 Peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2002 at the Golden Links Lodge, Dad passed into eternal rest in his 97th year. He is now with his loving wife of 70 years, Evelyn, who predeceased him in January of this year. John was predeceased by his brother Dave and sisters, Anne and Jean. He is survived by his son Gordon and his wife Marilynn; his brother James and sister Dorothy. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Muriel Misseghers; Gertrude MacKenzie and her husband Hugh and brother-in-law Gordon Eue and his wife Hazel; as well as many supportive and loving cousins, nieces and nephews. John was born in Kirkfieldbank, Scotland and came to Canada at an early age. He and Evelyn were long time residents of St. Vital. In his early years, John spent many happy summers at the family camp at Loni Beach in Gimli. In 1969 he and Evelyn built a cottage at Clearwater Bay, ON, where they had many happy years enjoying their gardening, fishing, golf and especially all the friends and relatives they entertained. Johns special hobby was blueberry picking and having Ev make one of her wonderful pies. Johns entire working career was spent in the wholesale plumbing business; starting at Crane Limited, moving over to Western Supplies and then going into business in partnership with D. Wescott opening Engineering Plumbing Supplies, which was later bought out by Westburne. During his career John met and made many long time friends in the industry. John was a lifetime member of the Windsor Masonic Lodge No. 138, having received his 50 year service pin in 2001. As well he was a member of the Scottish Right and the Provost Corp of the Khartum Shriners where he held the position of President in 1969. He will be remembered as a quiet, loving, and caring man to all who knew him. According to Johns wishes cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held. We wish to express sincere appreciation to all the wonderful staff at the Golden Links Lodge for the loving care that they gave to our father and mother over the last four and a half years, and thank all the friends and family that took the time to visit them in their last home. In Johns memory, memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Marys Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R2M 4A5. We will miss you dad, but we know mom and you are now having your "Happy Hour" together. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
