WILLIAM "BILL" KORCHYNSKI 1911 - 2002 Peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2002, Bill passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Left to cherish Bills memory is his loving wife Julia; sons, Ronald (Mabel), Gary (Leslie) daughters, Mary (Cecil), Bernice (Ray), Doreen (David) 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his eldest son David; one grandson; three great-grandsons, four brothers and one sister. Bill is survived and will be sadly missed by sisters, Emily (Frank), Annie, Helen, Jenny, Nell; and brother John; as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was born in Poland and came to Canada at a very young age with his family who settled in the Rama, SK district, where they homesteaded. Bill worked on his parents farm for a number of years until striking out on his own and by this time he had met the love of his life Julia Sarna. They were married on November 10, 1934. Leaving the farming life behind, Dad and Mom and the children (three) moved to Winnipeg. Finding a good paying steady job was a priority - but difficult to find. Dad found a steady job with Burns and worked there for 34 years before retiring in 1975. Dads greatest enjoyment in life was his family and friends. He particularly enjoyed the family get-togethers at home, weddings, socials and reunions. He always had a good time and was often the last to leave. Dad was a caring and generous man who loved his family and enjoyed his many grandchildren who came to visit. He was always concerned about the well being of those who were not able to visit. He will be sadly missed by all. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 29 at 1:00 p.m. also at the chapel. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, 4355 Main St. Pallbearers will be Bob and Allan Sykes, Randy and Tony Mots, David Korchynski, and Willie Korchynski In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bills memory to Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3C 2B7 or a charity of your choice.
