WINNIFRED BERNARD Peacefully on August 27, 2002, at the St. Norbert Nursing Home, with loved ones by her side. Winnie was born in England and came to Canada as a young child. In 1927, she married Charles Brown and had a daughter Irene. They lived happily in Winnipeg and Hudson, ON, until Charlies death. In 1968 she married Wilbur Bernard and gained another loving daughter Joan (John) Grenon. Mum was a gracious hostess and family, friends and neighbours enjoyed many lovely meals and wonderful baking in her home. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter, having won many blue ribbons. She devoted much time to her church and The Rebeccas and other good causes. She made many friends wherever she was and enjoyed many happy years at Lions Riverside Manor in St. Vital. The last ten years she resided at the St. Norbert Nursing Home, where she was cared for with much love. The family wishes to thank everyone there for their kindness and devotion. Winnie was predeceased by her first husband Charlie; and second husband Wilbur; her son-in-law Jerry Adams; and her grandson-in-law Lorne Young. She leaves to remember her with love, daughter Irene Adams; grandson Charlie (Sherry) Adams and family; Diane Young and family; stepdaughter Joan (John) Grenon and grandchildren, Shelley (Calvin) Luchuck, John-Paul (Helen) Grenon, Jim (Candice) Grenon, Cathy (Doug) Christie, Tony (Sharon) Grenon, Patti Grenon, Michelle (Don) Deally, Bern (Toni) Grenon, Gerry (Alice) Grenon. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 31 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons St. Service to terminate in the chapel. A gathering of relatives and friends to follow in the funeral homes reception centre. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the Activity Department of the St. Norbert Nursing Home, 50 St. Pierre St., Winnipeg, MB R3V 1J8.
