MICHAEL ALLAN CHRISTOPHER VICKERS 1983 - 2002 After a courageous life-long battle with auto-immune lympho-proliferative syndrome, Michael left us and went to be with the Lord. Michael is survived by his parents, Jim and Hilde; sister, Annamarie and fiance Stephan Jantz; sister Nicole; brother Ian; and Oma and Opa Calden. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Michael was predeceased by his grandparents Vickers, Carter and Morrow. Michael had been active in hockey and soccer when he was younger. He was a talented trombonist and played in all the various bands at the high school. Mike was an honours student and an honourable person. He was skilled at assembling computers and loved to share his skills. Michael loved the time he spent at Luther Village, with his family, as a camp volunteer and last summer at his dream job working at Luther Village before he entered the later stages of his illness. He has intended to study physics at the university. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 6088 PTH9A, just south of Selkirk, with Pastor Dave Saude officiating. His honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ward, Mike Sinnock, Marcel Kreutzer, Ryan Innes, Wayne Nystrom, Chris West and Tom Wilkinson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Luther Village, 560 Arlington St., Winnipeg, MB R2G 1Z5, or the Royal Blues Music Parents Association LSRCSS, 221 Mercy St., Selkirk, MB R1A 2C8, or the Bone Marrow Transplant Program, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, Room ON1164, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Special thanks to Dr. Bow and staff of GD-6 at the Health Sciences Centre, to the bone marrow transplant team, Dr. Johnston at CancerCare, the ALPS Program at NIH in Bethesda, MD, and all the people of the community who have given us such great support. Thank you. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
