SHAWN WILLIAM McINNIS On Monday August 26, 2002, at the age of 15, after enjoying some summertime fun with his sister and friends, Shawn was accidentally taken from us. Shawn loved his home in Rennie where he spent time quading, paint balling, and hunting and fishing with his friends. His greatest passion was snowmobiling. He enjoyed golfing with his special friends Matthew and Justin, even though he practiced his swing in the front yard and took out a window at his great uncles house, they still always seemed to better his score. He always enjoyed going trapping with his Dad and Uncle George. He was so looking forward to his planned hunting trip this fall with his friend Ben from Peterborough. Shawns latest interest, as any boys is, was cars. During spring break this year, he and his friend Matthew made quite a creation that they used to travel the back trails with, on our property. Shawn was a typical brother and was always teasing his sister Sherri. They shared special times with each other and with their mutual friends. Shawn was a member of the Whitemouth 4-H Combined Club, and had achieved his Hunters Safety, Safe Boating Courses and Trapper Education Program Certificate. He loved music and wrote a poem a couple of years ago that was published in a book of poetry, Island Moments. He was really a quiet boy who had a quick wit about him that would make everyone laugh. He also enjoyed spending time with his Black Lab, Beau. All of Shawns friends should consider themselves honorary pallbearers. Surviving to cherish his memory are his parents, Hugh and Sharron McInnis; and sister Sherri; grandparents, Isabel Oliver and Bud Winfield; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He has left us to be with his two brothers; his paternal grandparents, Ed and Liz McInnis; and maternal grandfather Harry Oliver. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Avenue East, Beausejour, MB, with Rev. Anne Cooke officiating. A family burial will be held at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be George Schultz, Mo Rutherford, Matthew Jensen, Phil Burrett, Justin Foubert, Jinx (Lorne) McInnis, Terry Oliver and Frank Van Wallingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shawn can be made to a bursary fund at Whitemouth School. This can be done by visiting the Whitemouth School Office (345-2595) or by mailing a cheque payable to "Shawn McInnis Memorial Fund" to the school at Box 187, Whitemouth, MB ROE 2GO.
