VIVIAN SPENCE (NANEEGANEE IKE) July 6, 1964 - August 28, 2002 It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Vivian Spence August 28, 2002, at the age of 38 years. She went to be with her Lord and Saviour, with her family at her side, at home. Vivian worked at Buffalo Point First Nations for Chief Thunder. Prior to this she worked with Lake St. Martin First Nations, both with the late Chief David Traverse and then with Chief Norman Traverse. Before working for the First Nations, she was employed by Fort Garry Hotel as an executive secretary. Vivian was born in Ashern at Lakeshore Hospital to Edwin and Elsie Spence of Lake St. Martin, MB. She will be sadly missed by her mother Elsie Spence; sisters, Florence Wood (Jim), Nancy Armstrong, Marlene Spence and Beatrice Decker (Raymond) brothers, Ernie Spence, Irvin Spence and Angus Spence; her partner John Goodwin; sons, Julian, Gabriel and John Angus; many aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her dad Edwin Spence, Anne Spence, Darlene Spence, Bryan Spence, Lucille Spence and Wallace Spence; maternal grandparents, Christina Woodhouse, and Angus Woodford; paternal grandparents, John (Wabeth) Spence and Elizabeth Spence. Prayers were said on Thursday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m. and will also be said Friday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Ave. at Parr, with wake to follow. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m., also at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Comber McDougall officiating. Interment to follow at St. Clements Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Susan Ryle, Julia Sinclair, Katie Pruden, and Chief Thunder and staff. Active pallbearers will be her nephews, James Wood, Andrew Spence, Vance Spence, Clifford Spence, Derek Spence and Daniel Spence. Special thanks to the staff and doctors of the Womens Centre for the care given to our sister. Also, thank you to Louise Bremner for her chaplain services from St. Matthews Anglican Church.
