CHARLES RAYMOND TULLY Peacefully on August 30, 2002, at the Portage General Hospital, Ray Tully, aged 73, beloved husband of Doris, passed away with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father Charles, infant son and granddaughter Amber. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Doris of 52 years; his mother Nettie (Tot) Tully; sons, Doug (Donna), Murray (Kim) and Raymond Glenn (Brenda) grandchildren, Leah, Scott, Kristen, Jason (Melody), Kyle and Tara (friend Brett) and great-grandchildren, Mickayla and Brody. Also left to mourn are his brothers, Ken (May), Alvin (Florence), Gordon (Ferne), and Lorne (Diana) sisters, Betty Sorenson (Jim) and Beverly Tully (George) his aunts, Ethel Jeffery, Doreen Whitehill (Dave) and Beatrice McConnell; sisters-in-law, Gladys Weber and Frances Brennan (Len) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray was born in Winnipeg on August 27, 1929. He grew up on the farm and attended Reaburn School. Ray married Doris Walker on August 5, 1950. Ray was employed with Manitoba Hydro for a short period and then worked for CPR for 18 years. He farmed for a number of years and later went to work at Versatile Farm Equipment until his retirement. Ray served as a councilor for the R.M. of Woodlands, Board of Trustee for Portage Hospital and was an active member of the Woodlands Pioneer Museum Board. Ray enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping, fishing and spending quality time with his grandchildren. Ray was always willing to help a friend. Pallbearers will be Roland Allard, Noel Carriere, Lloyd Gladu, Harvey MacMillan, Lloyd Proctor and Ian Slack. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 4, at 3:00 p.m., also at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Woodlands Pioneer Museum, in care of Helen Porteous, General Delivery, Woodlands, MB, R0C 3H0 or to the Poplar Point Alliance Church, 36 Cottonwood Rd., Poplar Point, MB, R0H 0Z0. The family would like to thank all the many health care workers on the Medical Unit at the Portage Hospital.
