Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY M. RICHARDSON It is with both sadness and relief that I announce the passing of my beloved Mother, Dorothy May Richardson (nee Cummine) at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2002 at West Park Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, finally released from a very painful final struggle. Mom is survived by her son Gordon C. Richardson of Winnipeg; two special nieces, Pat Biglow (Bruce) of Winnipeg, and Brenda Derdall (Gary) of Saskatoon SK, who were to her the daughters she never had, and like sisters to me. She also leaves to mourn her passing her beloved and supportive brother and sister-in-law, Harry S. and Rita Cummine of Winnipeg; a sister Jean Malhomme of North Battleford, SK; brothers, Bill and Raymond (Helen) of Saskatoon; and George (Dolores) of Parksville, BC. In spite of her distance from Winnipeg for many years, she felt much love for her niece Darlene Pearson (Tom) of West Linn, OR, USA. On Dads side, she is survived by a devoted brother-in-law, Lorne (Phyllis) of Saskatoon; Clara of Kindersley SK, with whom she had a special bond; sister-in-law May of Kimberley, BC; and brother-in-law Len of Saskatoon. Mother was a friend to many, but her two special friends Mildred Lind and Katherine Mulholland, both of Winnipeg, top the list. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. She was predeceased by her husband W. Chant Richardson on July 11, 2002, and by seven of her siblings. Mom was born on February 1, 1912 in Portage la Prairie, MB, grew up in Melville SK, and later relocated to Saskatoon, where she met and married my late Father on September 17, 1935. The family shuttled back and forth between Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and finally settled permanently in Winnipeg in 1956. The family would like to express sincerest thanks to the wonderful staff of West Park Manor, who though they deal with many residents and families, become attached to both residents and families alike. The staff of 2 South, where Mother resided since November 2001, are to be particularly complimented on their love for Mom, their diligent care and compassion; and their prayers for both Mom and the family. They were also of very significant comfort and support to the family during Moms final struggle and at the time of her death. It is hard to find words to adequately convey our appreciation for all their efforts. God bless them one and all. Though participation in the activities of Westworth United Church became impossible for health reasons a number of years ago, she continued to support the congregation up to the time of her death. She made many friends in Circle 8 of the UCW. To those members of the congregation who faithfully visited Mom at home, in hospital, and at West Park; we extend our thanks, and special mention must be made of Helen Powell who formed a strong bond with Mom, and became a true friend. Donna Banting of Winnipeg was also a regular visitor to West Park, and the family thanks her for her devotion to Mom. We acknowledge with gratitude the years of compassionate, conscientious, diligent care Mom received from her former physician, Dr. Brian Rumbolt. In accordance with Moms wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Her ashes will ultimately be laid to rest in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at 1501 Waverley St., Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. As a diabetic, Mom would undoubtedly appreciate donations be made in her memory to Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6; or to a charity of the donors choice. Gone from our sight, but loved, missed and remembered forever. A son could not have asked for a better Mother. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
