ALBERT EDWARD (AB) HETHERINGTON Ab was born in Souris, MB on March 30, 1920 and died in Hamilton, ON on August 19, 2002. He was the namesake of his Grandfather A.E. Hetherington, one of the original pioneer settlers from Millbrook, ON who arrived in the Souris and Glenwood District in April of 1881. After graduating from the Souris Collegiate in 1936 at the age of 16, Ab joined the staff of the Royal Bank working in Manitoba until the outbreak of war in 1939. In 1941 he joined the Manitoba Dragoons. He was discharged as a Staff Captain at the end of the war and returned to Brockville, ON to rejoin his wife, the former Marion Short of Brockville, whom he had married when on leave on June 24, 1944. He resumed his career with the Royal Bank in Winnipeg, followed by an appointment to the Brockville Trust and Savings Corp. and a later move to the Montreal Trust, first in London, ON and then in Hamilton where he retired in 1985. Marion and Ab had a daughter, Leslie Jane Morgan, and their lives were enriched by two Granddaughters Jessica and Diana Morgan now grown and graduated. He was predeceased by both his mother and father Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hetherington of Winnipeg and survived by his sisters and their families Alice Brown and her husband Morley of Wawanesa, MB and Eileen Warren of Winnipeg. Ab was always a blessed son, brother, husband and father to his own and a valued friend to all his many associates over the years.
