DOROTHY KORMAN On September 5, 2002, at HSC, Winnipeg, Dorothy Korman passed away one week after entering hospital. She is survived by husband David, sons Jeff and Steve (Debbie Milani), grandson Alexander, brother Sy (Omaha), and special niece Bev (L.A.). Daughter of Bessie and Abe Schneider, Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, NY. She met her husband to be, David, at her brothers wedding in Chicago, January 1950, moved to Winnipeg in February of that same year, later experiencing the Great Flood. Returning to NYC, David and Dorothy were married May 28, 1950 at the Waldorf Astoria. In 1951, she gave birth to her eldest son Jeff. Dorothy endured many serious physical maladies throughout much of her adult life, the most serious of which was a stroke suffered nearly three and a half years ago. Through it all she remained very active. In summer she could often be seen clad only in her bathing suit tending to the gardens surrounding her home where she lived since 1960. In winter, personal enjoyments included travels with David to sunny getaways in particular Las Vegas, Florida, California, Israel, and most often to favourite Hawaii. Over the years returning to NYC to see family members, regularly going to the movies and reading adventure/romance novels served as sources of personal enjoyment. Dorothy worked at Cliffords clothing store for several years. She volunteered her time as a member of the River Heights womens chapter of the Bnai Brith, serving twice as Chapter President and in her later years, working at Brock Corydon School serving student lunches and assisting teachers. She was well known and respected throughout her community. Dorothy was fiercely loyal and prideful of the family that serves as her monument. Grandson Alexander (Jeff) was a welcome bright light in her later years; daughter-in-law Debbie (Steve) a source of great pride and loving affection allowing Dorothy to experience and share a large extended family through in-laws, Gene and Julie Milani. She is sadly missed and will be remembered by many friends and family. Funeral services were held September 6 at Shaarey Zedek cemetery. Many thanks to the HSC SICU and Step Down. For those that so desire, memoriams may be made in Dorothys memory to a charity of ones choice.
