Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH GEORGIN PAUL (nee DEWAR) Surrounded by family on Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the Misericordia Place in Winnipeg, Edith Georgin Paul passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years after a lengthy illness. Edith was born in Portage la Prairie in 1916, daughter of Susanne and George Dewar. She received her education in Portage and Winnipeg. Married in 1939 to Henry Paul, also of Portage, she moved with Henry to Dauphin in 1940 where she resided until the fall of 1978 when she returned to Portage after Henrys death. Edith was predeceased by her infant daughter, Margaret in 1940; husband Henry in 1975; sister and brother-in-law, Caye and Fred McIntosh. During the many years spent in Dauphin she made very valuable contributions to Dauphin United Church, Manitoba Conference of the United Church UCW along with the Dauphin Hospital Aid, Eastern Star and Lionelles. On her return to Portage she continued involvement with Trinity United Church, the UCW and Eastern Star, along with Birthday Club and others. Her warmth, commitment and organizational skills were valued by these organizations. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and in the last few years, a proud great-grandmother. She enjoyed the company of her relatives and friends. Her warm and generous nature, sense of humour and her wonderful smile, her love of cooking and entertaining along with her genuine love and caring for others will always be remembered and cherished by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the excellent staff at Misericordia Place for their warm and wonderful care of our Mom and Grandmother over the last three and a half years. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Glenda (Dr. Jack) Armstrong and her son Robert (Josephine) Paul of Winnipeg; granddaughters, Jeanne and Carolyn Armstrong of Winnipeg; grandson Gary (Tracey) Paul with great-grandsons, Andrew and Riley of Brandon; grandson Darren (Carolyn) Paul with great-grandddaughter, Brynn of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Ann (Andy) Rutherford of Portage as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity United Church, Portage la Prairie, on Tuesday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ross Taylor officiating. Interment is to follow at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ediths memory to Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St. South, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1W7 or the Order of the Eastern Star Electa Chapter No. 2, 50 Tupper St. South, Portage la Prairie, MB. "Love is the greatest gift one person can give another" A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Edith by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, who are entrusted with the arrangements. 857-4021.
