KATHLEEN EWASKIW (KAY PETERSON) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandma "Ba-Ba", Kathleen "Kay" Ewaskiw in her sleep at Bethania Personal Care Home on Friday, September 6, 2002 with her daughter Cecile by her side. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, William on October 7, 2001. Also her parents Michael and Caroline Peterson and numerous family members. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Cecile, son-in-law Roman Strawa and her grandson, Ronald Strawa and friend Doris Cloutier. Also left to mourn her passing is her brother, Edmund Peterson; in-laws, Lee and Andy Opitz, John and Joyce Ewatski, Joe and Louise Ewaskiw of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves her adopted family, Frank and Mary Peterson of Kenora and Ed and Ruth Peterson of Niagara-On-The-Lake. Kathleen "Kay" was born and raised in the North End of Winnipeg and resided there until moving to North Kildonan and their retirement cottage "Nasha Shawnda" at Kenora. Kathleen and her "hubby William" spent many memorable winters in Hawaii, making many lasting friendships. Kathleen worked some 40 years in the hospitality industry before retiring to look after her pride and joy "Grandson Ronald". Ronald did everything with his "Ba-Ba", shopping, baking, cooking, and even a train ride to her beloved Kenora. Our Mother and Grandma will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind and gracious lady, people person, and the perfect hostess, both in Winnipeg and at the cottage, you never left her table hungry. We, her family and friends, have many happy memories. A memorial service will be held at Bethania Personal Care Home, 1045 Concordia Ave. on Tuesday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Pierre Wood of St. Gerard officiating. A private interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Our family found it fitting to have the service and reception at Kathleens home these past 11 years. Cecile, Roman and Ronald offer our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Bethania, who became Moms extended family. Your caring and compassion will be long remembered. The family is also grateful to Dr. Erroll Doermer for his care these past years. Bethania staff "Our Angels", made our life much easier to bear in knowing that our Mothers needs were well taken care of, we will never forget you. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleens memory may be made to the Bethania Personal Care Home or Ronald MacDonald House. "Mother, Grandma "Ba-Ba", we love you and will carry many happy memories of you today and always." Kathleen and William Forever Together CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
