GLEN SWANN HODGSON After 73 years of optimistic living, Glen Swann Hodgson passed away peacefully at the Riverview Health Centre on Friday September 6, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Eleanor (Nora) son William (Emma) of Harleysville, PA; and daughter Susan (Steve Shail) of Saskatoon, SK; grandchildren, Liam and Wyatt Hodgson and Jamie Shail, besides many relatives and caring friends. Special thanks to his niece, Nancy Gates, for her love and support. He was predeceased by his parents; his two brothers, Gill Hall and Roy Hodgson; and his youngest son Roy. Glen was born May 20, 1929, in Winnipeg. He graduated from Daniel McIntyre High School and was a Manufacturers Agent before spending 20 years with the Hudson Bay Company in Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton, and later with Merchants Consolidated in Winnipeg and the Manitoba Telephone System. Glen was a wonderful example to all who knew him. Despite the many adversities in his life, he never lost his positive attitude or his sense of humour. He will be warmly remembered for his courage, compassion and strength. He genuinely cared about others. His family has many lasting memories of a strong, loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather. Glen took great pleasure in the time spent at the family cottage in Minaki, ON, where he had summered for 50 years. He is best remembered there for his energy and enthusiasm. He enjoyed renovating the old cottage, boating, entertaining, sunset watching and reading in the hammock in, as he called it, "Gods Country." He will be greatly missed by his many friends there. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with Rev. Ted Hicks officiating. The family gratefully acknowledges the care given by Dr. J.R.A. Smart, Dr. Pat Harris and the Oncology Department at Grace Hospital, and Dr. Jan Mulder and the Palliative Care staff at Riverview Health Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
