Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY DYNKAVITCH (nee EWATSKI) On Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Holy Family Nursing Home, our Mother, Baba and Big Baba, Mary Dynkavitch, peacefully passed away at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Phyllis, son John (Donna), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is remembered by her brothers, John (Joyce) Ewatski and Joe (Louise) Ewaskiw; and sister Lee (Andy) Opitz; nieces, nephews and many friends. Also Mary and Rose, her first two grandchildren, who she chose to raise as a mother from birth to adulthood. Mom was predeceased by her husband William in 1964; her parents; her sister Anne; and her brothers, Bill, Metro, Peter and Fred. Mom was born on October 4, 1910 in the Ukraine and came to Canada as a young girl. She married William in 1931. They built and resided in their North End home their entire married life. Mom enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, crocheting, and was especially proud when the Winnipeg Tribune featured an article on her including her recipes for her favourite Ukrainian dishes. Throughout her life, she thoroughly enjoyed the many years tending and caring for her grandchildren. In later years, she enjoyed the weekly "Lawrence Welk Show" and was an avid fan of "The Young and the Restless". On many special occasions Mom turned down invitations to go out and preferred to stay at home to be there to welcome anyone who might come to visit. All were welcomed into her home and were treated with things such as homemade cookies, perogies, or whatever else she had in her kitchen. Special thanks to the staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Beacon Hill Lodge, and finally at the Holy Family Nursing Home, St. Francis Ward for their care and compassion. Mom looked forward to her weekly visits from Carol who would rub her hands with lotion while talking about her gardening and cooking during the past week. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave., with Rev. Deacon Nick Kohuch officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandsons and great-grandsons. Active pallbearers will be Bill Dynkavitch, Bill Toews, Ernie Kondrat, Marion Kotelniski, Bob Nietrzeba, and Alex Dynkavitch. If friends so desire, a donation may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association of Winnipeg or the Holy Family Nursing Home. VICHNAYA PAMYAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
