SOPHIE HLADY January 16, 1920 - September 8, 2002 With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sophie, who passed away peacefully at the Holy Family Nursing Home. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Peter; parents, Peter and Ann Chernetsky; sister Mary Kolbuck; brothers, Harvey and Patrick Chernetsky. Mom is survived by her two daughters who will miss her terribly, Stella (Bob) Foster, Rosemarie (Wayne) Bell of Calgary; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly; brother Alex (Ann) Chernetsky; many sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Libau, MB; lived in Greenwald, Beausejour and later moved to Winnipeg to be near her family. Many thanks to Moms homecare and V.O.N. workers that looked after her while at home. Also thanks to the Deer Lodge Centre and the wonderful staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for taking such good care of our Mom and to Dr. Sheila Domke for being her doctor for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Moms memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m., also at Cropo Chapel, with interment following at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
