JOHANN JOHANNSON On September 8, 2002, Johann Johannson passed away at home with his family at his side after a lengthy battle with cancer. Johann will be lovingly remembered by his wife Thorunn; daughters, Jo-anne (Don Burnside) and Olive (Brian McDonald) and his two special grandchildren, Carlie and Kyle. Also cherishing his memory are his sisters, Margaret (Jim Rae), Christine (Bert Best), Anna (Peter Hryclik) and brother Thor. He was predeceased by his parents, Sigmundur and Christine; in-laws, Wilfred and Gerda Finnson; nephew Bill Best; sisters-in-law, Jorunn Johannson and Alda Hannah and brothers-in-law, Doug Hannah and Cecil Rolfe. Johann was born in Arborg on July 17, 1923 and started working at an early age at the creamery. He then served his country by joining the Air Force, shortly after, he began a career as a carpenter which lasted over 40 years. He restored many historical sites in Manitoba and was very talented in his trade. Johann was a man of quiet dignity, a neighbour and friend who was always ready to lend a hand or give support to those who needed it. He was always kind and generous. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, camping, reading and listening to music. He will be deeply missed. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Garcia and the many Palliative care staff at CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface and Victoria Hospital for the support during his illness. And also his good neighbour and friend Jake Friesen. Memorial service will be held at the Masonic Memorial Temple, 420 Corydon Ave., on Friday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m., Rev.
