ALLAN C. "BUD" RENTON 1928 - 2002 Suddenly, but peacefully, on September 8, 2002 our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at home, at the age of 74 years. Bud will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 41 years, June; his children Laurie (Ken) Nemez, Greg (and friend Mel), Linda, Kenny (and friend Jenna) grandchildren, Kyle, Breanne and Daniel Nemez and Meagan Fitzsimmons; sister Jean (Cliff) Baskerville; nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Pat Hutcheon and special friend Leslie. He was predeceased by his mother Edith; father George; and brother Bill. Bud began his lifetime of employment in his teen years as band leader and lead trumpet for his own dance band. Following his graduation from Kelvin High School, he trained at the R.C.M.P. Barracks in Regina, a fact he loved to boastfully tell. While studying for his B.A. at United College, he worked as an usher and manager of the Uptown Theatre, and upon graduation, he was employed by the City of Winnipeg in the Accounting Department. In 1955 he began his career with the C.B.C., retiring in 1972 as Regional Personnel Manager (Prairie Provinces). He then joined Oldfield Kirby and Gardner, spending several years involved in real estate. He ventured back into the field of personnel through employment as Staff Development Officer at the University of Manitoba. Upon leaving the U of M, Bud became manager of the Seniors Transport Service, having been instrumental in the development of Winnipegs first specialized transportation service for seniors. After a lack of funding led to S.T.S. being dissolved, Buds dedication to seniors, led him to assist them by personally caring for their transportation needs well into his own senior years. During this time he also worked as a door man at the Fort Garry Legion No. 90, until the eve of his passing. In all he did, Bud excelled in working with people, as he was truly a "people person", who always made others feel comfortable and significant. Throughout his life, in fatherhood and beyond, Bud was "coach" and a mentor to many. He was a loving and devoted dad, who cared so deeply for his children, and dedicated his life to helping them in anyway he possibly could, no matter what the sacrifice. We know that he would have done anything for us. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, September 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Bud will be missed by his special "friends" Emmett, Jake, Chelsea, Kayla and Kit. He was a nature and animal lover, and would have appreciated if friends so desire, donations to be made to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3K 0Y1 "Your life and your love have touched us beyond words. We love you and miss you now and forever". Your family. "My nights will be long now that youve gone away My Buddy" June LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
